In Loving Memory of Simona Beltran Luna Born in: San Rafael de los Martinez Mier y Noriega, Nuevo Leon, Mexico Passed: April 9, 2025
Simona Beltran Luna, a beloved daughter, sister, wife, sister in-law, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away surrounded by the love of her family at her home. Born in San Rafael de los Martinez Mier y Noriega, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, Simona was the cherished daughter of Herminio Avila Beltran and Prisca Lara Reyna. She was the sister to four brothers, Candido Reyna Beltran + (Triana), Juan Reyna Beltran + (Francisca "Pancha"), Orlando Reyna Beltran + (Lucia), José Dolores Reyna Beltran (Señorina), and two sisters, Dionicia Reyna Beltran + and Lidia Reyna Beltran + (Florentino García). Sister in-law to: Mary Paradise + (Bill), Victor M. Luna (San Juanita), Miguel Luna +(Olga), Socorro Luna (Dora), Elida Bradley +, Ramon Luna, Jr., and Emma Torres (Leon). Her life was marked by deep love and commitment to family, humility, and an unwavering work ethic.
Simona arrived in the United States at the age of 15, staying with her father's sisters while working to clean homes. It was during this time that she met the love of her life, Jose Isidro Luna +. They wed on May 1, 1967, in Dr. Arroyo, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, and embarked on a journey filled with love, sacrifice, and hard work. Together, they raised three daughters: Josephine Luna (in eternal memory), Alcinda (Felipe Pardo), and Belinda (Ricardo Loredo), who brought immense pride and joy to their lives. Simona was also a devoted grandmother to Carolina Viviana and Karina Valeria Pardo, and Jacquelyne Michelle and Tomas Jose Loredo and leaves countless cousins, nieces and nephews behind in Mexico and Texas. Pallbearers will be by intimate family.
Simona was devoted to Our Lady of Mount Carmel, as she practiced devotion to Our Lady and wished to pay tribute with her Brown Scapular around her neck and clothed in tradition with her veil and brown robe. Simona dedicated herself wholeheartedly to her family and community. Whether helping Jose “Chepo” in the fields, providing home-cooked meals for her loved ones, or preparing food for strangers in need, her generosity knew no bounds. Her tamales, flour tortillas, and canned vegetables, cultivated from her husband's crops, are cherished traditions her family holds dear. Simona was also a remarkable cook and homemaker, ensuring there was warmth in both her meals and her spirit.
In her later years, Simona worked at McAllen Nursing Home, serving in the dietary department for 29 years until her retirement in 2017. Her loyalty and friendships, especially with Guadalupe A. Quijada, were highlights of her career and retirement. She treasured time spent with friends like Lupito and Rogelio, enjoying meals and laughter.
Simona's life was deeply rooted in faith, prayer, and simple joys. She loved dancing, watching Noticias and Novelas, the elegant animal of an Elephant, listening/singing along to artist Vicente Fernandez, visiting her family in Mexico, gardening (mostly Nopales), praying the rosary, crocheting, knitting, cooking, eating out with family and most of all, being a dedicated mother, grandmother, and friend. Her kindness, strength, and resilience were unmatched. She worked tirelessly until the age of 80, embodying perseverance and humility every day of her life.
Simona's beautiful heart, despite the care of Dr. Alfredo V. Gonzalez and nurses, Dr. Federico E. Azpurua and Ms. Esperanza Sainz, succumbed to congestive heart failure in December. Her legacy continues through the love and memories of her family and friends. She will forever remain an inspiration to all who knew her.
Simona's family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to all who supported her during her life. They take pride in her remarkable legacy and will forever cherish the joy, kindness, and strength that she imparted. She will always be remembered as a mother who gave her all, a grandmother who loved unconditionally, and a friend to everyone she met.
May her soul rest in eternal peace.
