Ruben Valentin Cano

Ruben Valentin Cano was a loving and compassionate man, a devoted husband, proud father, cherished grandpa, and loyal friend. He carried a warmth that lit up every room and a kindness that touched every heart. With a generous spirit and a ready smile, he made those around him feel seen, supported, and loved.

Ruben’s presence brought comfort and joy to his family and friends, and his quiet strength left a lasting impression on all who knew him. He lived his life with grace and gratitude, never taking a moment for granted and always giving more than he received.

Though he is no longer with us, his memory will live on in the love he shared, the lives he touched, and the legacy he leaves behind. He will be forever remembered, and deeply missed.

Ruben Valentin Cano, age 81, passed away to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 11th, 2025, at South Texas Health Care System in Edinburg, Texas. He was born on February 14, 1944, to Feliciano Cano and Rosa Coronado in Edinburg, Texas. Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Guadalupe Velasquez Cano, his children: Ruben Jr., Rosie Meeks, Juan Gilbert, Rick, and Rudy Cano. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Aaron Urbina, Jack Meeks, JonRik, Akiliez, Troy, Ruben V. III, Alissa, Ricky Daniel, Ruben A., and Ryan Cano.

Family and friends will gather for a visitation on Wednesday May 14, 2025, from 4p.m. to 8p.m. with a Rosary at 6:30:p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Rivera at Hillcrest Funerals and Cremations,1300 N. I-69C  in Edinburg. A funeral Mass will take place Thursday, May 15, 2025 at 10a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Edinburg. Funeral Arrangements are being handled by Rivera at Hillcrest Funerals and Cremations of Edinburg.
