Rosa Isela Perez, affectionately known as Rosie to her friends and family, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2025, in Pharr, Texas, at the age of 52. Born on June 13, 1973, in McAllen, Texas, Rosie was a beacon of love and faith throughout her life, touching the hearts of all who knew her.
Rosie was a proud graduate of PSJA High School and later went on to earn her bachelor's degree in Bilingual Education from Pan American University. Her passion for education and her dedication to her students were evident during her 17 years of teaching at Carmen Anaya Elementary School. Rosie's commitment to her profession went beyond the classroom as she loved teaching at bible school, where she shared her faith and wisdom with the younger generation.
A loving mother and grandmother, Rosie is survived by her children, Ryan Martin Perez, Rogelio David Perez, and Lauren Riley Perez, as well as her cherished grandson, Ryan Mateo Perez. Her legacy of love and nurturing will live on through them. Rosie was the beloved sister of Natalia Hernandez, Leonel Hernandez Jr., Margarita Hernandez, Elida Hernandez, and Marisol Gomez, who will miss her deeply. She was preceded in death by her parents, Juana Josefina Hernandez and Leonel Hernandez, who instilled in her the values of family and faith that she carried throughout her life.
Rosie's life was marked by her loving nature, her faith-filled spirit, and her intelligent mind. She found joy in attending church, where she was a source of support and inspiration to her community. Her love for family gatherings was unmatched, as these occasions were filled with laughter, stories, and the warmth of her presence. Rosie's adventurous spirit led her to travel and explore new places, creating lasting memories with those she loved.
Above all, Rosie cherished the time spent with her friends, who found in her a compassionate listener and a wise counselor. Her ability to uplift others and her unwavering support were hallmarks of her character.
Rosie's departure leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew her, but her spirit will continue to guide and inspire. Her life was a testament to the power of love, the strength of faith, and the beauty of a life well-lived. Rosie will be fondly remembered and sorely missed, but her light will continue to shine in the lives of her family, her students, and her friends.
