Oscar Alaniz

Oscar Alaniz, 87 passed away Wednesday June 12th, 2024, at Edinburg Regional Hospital after a short illness. Born in San Juan, Texas and lived in Edinburg for the past 51 years. 

He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Irene V. Alaniz and his sister Irene Mayorga, his Paternal Parents and his Maternal Parents. 

Mr. Alaniz is survived by their 2 sons, Oscar (Doris) Alaniz Jr. San Juan Tx., Ronaldo (Diana) Alaniz Edinburg, Tx., 3 grandchildren: Ronaldo (Ronnie) Alaniz Jr., David Eric (Stacie) Alaniz, and Luis Oscar Alaniz. Also surviving Mr. Alaniz are his two sisters Gloria (Audon+) Garcia, Lydia (Noe+) Garza and was blessed with several nieces and nephews that will also miss him dearly. 

Oscar was self employed as a truck driver and then became a produce and vegetable specialist traveling throughout Texas to ship and deliver quality products of which he learned from his dad. The last 18 years he was the primary caregiver of Irene until her passing and did it with protective love and care. Family was always his focus and made every attempt to please them in any way he could by lending a hand to cook his homemade soups, and BBQ’s. 

Oscar was a resident of Arbor View that last 13 months, and we would like to thank the staff (Leanna, Jackie, Celia, Gracie, Mary, Arturo, Roy, Faith, Social Worker- Amanda and several CNA’s) for their undivided care and comfort to his needs while there.  Also, the Staff at Edinburg Regional Hospital (Emergency Room and ICU) for their undivided care during his last stay.

Oscar (Dad) will be greatly missed, and we are happy knowing that he is finally back with Irene (Mom) and his Parents, Sister and other relatives in Heaven. 

Cremation Services are under the direction of Mr. Marc A. Gonzalez of Rivera at Hillcrest in Edinburg, Texas.

Funeral services are under the direction of Rivera at Hillcrest Funerals and Cremations of Edinburg.
