Vivian "Bucho" Luera, a spirited and adventurous soul, passed away peacefully on January 2, 2025, at the age of 85, in his hometown of Edinburg, Texas. Born on December 2, 1939, also in Edinburg, he was a man who embraced the beauty of the outdoors and the joy of simple pleasures throughout his life.
Bucho, as he was affectionately known, was a loving family man, preceded in death by his cherished parents, Juan and Julia Garces Luera, his beloved wife, Maria de la Luz Luera, and all of his siblings and in-laws. His legacy continues through his devoted children, Julia Luera Frias (Arturo), Angelita Luera, Adrian Luera (Iselda), Delia A. Luera, and Jorge Luera (Carolina), as well as his adoring 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, who will forever hold him in their hearts.
Bucho's younger days were filled with the thrill of sports as he skillfully played baseball and croquet, demonstrating his competitive spirit and love for games. His passion for the outdoors was evident in his favorite pastimes, which included deer hunting, fishing, and dove hunting. These activities were more than hobbies; they were the ways in which he connected with nature and shared unforgettable moments with friends and family.
A man of simple joys, Bucho found pleasure in the camaraderie of playing "Loteria" with loved ones and the excitement of scratching lottery tickets, always hopeful for that lucky win. His infectious laughter and warm presence made every gathering a memorable one.
Those who knew Bucho would describe him as a man who lived life to the fullest, with a heart full of love and a spirit that could not be tamed. His adventurous nature was balanced by his deep affection for his family, whom he supported and cherished at every turn.
As we bid farewell to Vivian "Bucho" Luera, we celebrate a life well-lived, marked by the pursuit of happiness, the warmth of companionship, and the unwavering love for his family. His stories, his laughter, and his adventurous spirit will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.
Bucho's life will be honored and remembered in a private ceremony, surrounded by the beautiful landscapes he so loved. His memory will be carried on the breeze of the Edinburg fields, across the waters he fished, and in the hearts of all who loved him. Though he has left this earthly realm, his spirit remains a guiding light for his family, a beacon of the love and joy he shared so generously.
