Maria Estrada, passed away peacefully in her hometown of Edinburg, Texas, on December 11, 2025, at the age of 58. Born on January 6, 1967, Maria was a lifelong resident of Edinburg, having cultivated a legacy that is deeply etched into the community's heart.
Maria, the cherished matriarch, was preceded in death by her loving parents, Pedro and Martina Hernandez, as well as by her siblings Hermelinda Perez, Efrain Hernandez, and Juan Hernandez. Despite these profound losses, Maria’s effervescent spirit and loving nature only grew stronger, touching the lives of all who knew her.
She is survived by her adored children, Michelle Marie Martinez (married to Efrain) and Juan Manuel Estrada Jr. Her love and teachings will forever remain in the living tapestry of her seven grandchildren: Corinna, Cataleya, Carolina, Kristen, Aiden, Alexander, and Ashton. Maria's legacy will continue to flourish with the guidance they received from their beloved grandmother.
Maria is also survived by her siblings: Pedro and wife Amanda Hernandez, Aurelio and wife Edna Hernandez, Ramiro and wife Cristina Hernandez, Mario and wife Gloria Hernandez, Jose Luis and wife Martha Hernandez, Josefa and husband Silvino Hernandez, Margarita Hernandez, and Graciela Hernandez. Along with a host of extended cousins, each will hold a part of her heart and cherish memories of times spent with Maria.
She attended Edinburg High School and lived in Edinburg all her life. She was known for her indomitable spirit and the care she extended to everyone around her. Family and friends were Maria's touchstone and joy; she relished in orchestrating family gatherings, her hands always busy with crafting, cooking, and bringing people together. She was the unseen hand behind every memorable celebration, ensuring that laughter, love, and plenty of delicious food filled every occasion.
Maria’s zeal for life was paralleled by her dedication as a Dallas Cowboys fan. Sundays were marked by her impassioned cheers and the shared camaraderie of family and friends as they rallied around the television never missing a game.
To speak of Maria Estrada is to recall a woman of immeasurable kindness and invincible faith. Her smile was a beacon of hope, her words a comfort, and her embrace the embodiment of home. With every act of love, whether grand or small, Maria left an indelible imprint on the world around her. Her passing leaves behind a community richer for her presence and a family fortified by her example. Maria’s life is one to be celebrated, her memory to be cherished and her love to be emulated.
