Juan Gonzalez Obituary

Juan Gilberto Gonzalez, known affectionately as Gilbert, was a beacon of kindness and joy to all who knew him. Born on May 22, 1964, in McAllen, Texas, Gilbert's warm smile and generous spirit were nurtured under the vast Texan skies. His journey came to a peaceful close on December 29, 2024, in Edinburg, Texas, surrounded by the love of his family.

Gilbert's early years were spent in the loving company of his parents, the late Jose Gonzalez Sr. and Juana Ramirez Bocanegra. Though they preceded him in passing, their values and love lived on through Gilbert. He was also predeceased by his grandparents and his beloved Aunt Albesa Garza. His stepmother, Mercedes Gonzalez, provided additional guidance and care, contributing to the man he would become.

A true family man, Gilbert's life was further enriched by his loving wife, Margaret O. Gonzalez. Together, they created a legacy of love through their children, Brittney (Mathew) Solis and John Mathew Gonzalez. The joy of his life multiplied with the arrival of his grandchildren, Ivan Ryan Telles, Brandon Jose Gonzalez, Michael Joseph Solis, and Adam Moises Solis, who will carry his memory and lessons into the future.

Gilbert's siblings, Jose (Elizabeth) Gonzalez Jr., Carlos (Toni) Gonzalez, Veronica Gonzalez, Lorena (Jesse) Tamez, Melissa Alvarez, Lorenzo Boccanegra, Eric (Crystal) Boccanegra, Michelle Lopez, and Cynthia Boccanegra, will remember him as a pillar of strength and laughter. His extended family of aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews all share in the loss of a remarkable man whose love knew no bounds.

For approximately 15 years, Gilbert dedicated his professional life to Hidalgo County Pct 3 Road and Bridges, where his work ethic and camaraderie left a lasting impression. His colleagues will remember him not just for his contributions to their projects, but for the warmth and humor he brought to the workplace every day.

Gilbert's interests were a reflection of his love for life and his community. An unwavering fan of the Dallas Cowboys, he stood by his team through thick and thin, embodying the true spirit of loyalty. His passion for BBQ and family gatherings was unmatched, as he believed in the power of food and fellowship to bring people together. Music was another of Gilbert's joys, with his last concert being a lively performance by Becky G, a testament to his youthful spirit.

Those who had the pleasure of knowing Gilbert will remember him as the kind of person who would literally give the shirt off his back for anyone in need. His kindness was boundless, his love all-encompassing, and his sense of humor a source of constant laughter. Gilbert's presence was a gift to all, and his absence will be deeply felt.

Gilbert's life was a testament to the virtues of kindness, love, and humor. He lived these values every day, touching the lives of those around him in profound and lasting ways. As we say farewell to Juan Gilberto Gonzalez, we celebrate the remarkable man he was and the indelible mark he left on the hearts of his family, friends, and community. His light, though no longer with us in body, will continue to shine brightly in the memories of those he loved and in the legacy he leaves behind.
