Jose Alfredo Patlan, affectionately known as Fred to his friends and family, peacefully entered eternal rest early Tuesday morning in McAllen, TX, after a courageous battle with a short illness. He was born February 15, 1960, in Rio Bravo Mexico, to the late Margarito and Simona Patlan.
He was a lifelong Edinburg resident, graduating from Edinburg High School. He met the love of his life, Susie Patlan (Diaz) in McAllen, TX and married February 13th, 1980. They welcomed four children who filled their life with joy, and brought them immense pride. The family he and Susie built together was his greatest blessing. He was known to be a source of unwavering support to his wife and children.
Known for his kind and generous heart, he never hesitated to offer help to those in need. Fred was the life of many family parties and barbecues, and was always quick to welcome everyone. Together, he and his wife were avid dancers and rarely passed on an opportunity to partake with friends and family. An animal lover at heart, he enjoyed spending time outdoors, which included tending to his beloved animals.
Fred enjoyed traveling, especially to visit his children. Participating in and watching all sports was a loved past time, with football being his favorite. He especially relished being able to watch his sons on the football field; never missing the opportunity to be present at their games.
After a distinguished career lasting almost 40 years, Fred retired from Enbridge, an energy transmission company. Though he looked upon his years of service fondly, he was most happy spending uninterrupted time with his loved ones.
He is preceded in death by his parents Margarito and Simona Patlan and brother, Mage.
He is immediately survived by his wife, Susie; children Alfredo, Richard (Amanda), Priscila, Michael; granddaughters Isabella, Alyssa, and Madison; and siblings Mingo, Mando (Tamie), Gloria (Pablo) Gutierrez, Mene, Ruben (Mary), Linda, and Janie.
