Jose Moreno Obituary

Jose Manuel Moreno, affectionately known as “Joe Moreno” to his friends and family, went to be with our Lord and Savior on September 21, 2024, in his hometown of Edinburg, Texas. Born on August 23, 1950, to Manuel and Ernestina Moreno, who preceded him in death, Joe was a passionate lover of life with a smile that could light up a room. He is survived by his beloved wife, Margie Moreno, his cherished daughters Stephanie Moreno McAdams (Chris) and Candace Moreno Ferguson (Craig), his stepson Robert Moran (Bety), his loving grandchildren Brandon, Kennedy, Lane, Zachary, Jacinda, and Raegan, and his great-grandchildren Maizie, Liam, Lily, and Jessi. Joe's legacy is also carried on by his adoring sisters Rosemary Martinez (Francisco), Mary Jane Vela (Rene), Mary Garcia (Joe), Ernestina Moreno, Lisa Figueroa (Joe), his loving younger brother Jorge Moreno (Pola), and many nieces and nephews.
Joe was a graduate of Edinburg High School, a proud Bobcat of the Class of 1969. He went on to serve our country as a member of the United States Air Force. Joe furthered his education at McLennan Community College, in Waco, Texas where he earned an associate’s in business. Joe’s professional life was marked by dedication and service, having worked at the Waco VA Hospital, as a Contracts Specialist in the Department of Procurement, Acquisition, and Logistics for 14 years. Additionally, Joe was a skilled licensed investigator for the Law Office of Garcia and Villarreal in McAllen, Texas and served his community as a process server with JM Processing Service.
A man of many interests, Joe's energy, enthusiasm and love for life was uplifting, infectious and always joyous. He loved dancing to Tejano music and listening to the 60s’ oldies; there wasn’t a song from the 60’s that he didn’t know the lyrics to. He loved exercising, riding his motorcycle, and watching football, especially his Dallas Cowboys as long as they were winning. Joe was a captivating storyteller, he loved watching and discussing movies with his friends and family. His stories would draw you in with his dramatic delivery, descriptive action, and teasers. He was the ultimate trailer for any movie.
Joe richly enjoyed his life, appreciating the simple pleasures and the importance of sharing those joys with family and friends. His stories, his million-dollar smile, and his love for life will be deeply missed, but the memories he created will continue to bring smiles to the faces of those of us who loved him most.
As we bid farewell to Jose Manuel Moreno, we celebrate the life of a man who was truly one of a kind. His spirited nature and his strong character will live on, reminding us all to turn the music up and dance a little longer, laugh a little louder, drink a little longer, and love a little deeper. Rest now, peacefully in paradise, Joe.
“And now, the end is near. And so I face the final curtain. My friend, I’ll say it clear, I’ll state my case, of which I’m certain. I’ve lived a life that’s full, I traveled each and every highway. And more, much more than this, I did it my way.”
