John Anthony Barragan

John Anthony Barragan, passed away on June 12, 2026, in Edinburg, Texas, at the age of 45.

John was born on November 11, 1980, in Harlingen, Texas, and he carried the values of his hometown with him throughout his life. He was a loving, friendly, and passionate man whose presence brought warmth and comfort to those around him. He lived life to its fullest and was known for the genuine care he showed to his family, friends, and everyone fortunate enough to know him.

John is survived by his beloved wife, Kathleen Barragan, and his children, Arianna M. Barragan, Emma F. Barragan, and his stepson, Devin Everett. He is also survived by his parents, Leonor Salinas Barragan and Roberto G. Barragan, and his siblings, Robert Barragan Jr., Veronica Barragan Taylor, and Amanda Lapham. His family was the center of his life, and he treasured every moment spent with them.

For the past few years, John worked at BrightView Landscaping, where he was respected for his strong work ethic and dependable nature. Prior to that, he worked at the King Ranch, where he continued to build a reputation as a hardworking and dedicated man. He took pride in his work and approached every responsibility with commitment and integrity.

John especially enjoyed family gatherings, where he could share laughter, good food, and meaningful conversation with the people he loved most. He loved being outdoors and was an avid outdoorsman who found joy in hunting and spending time in nature. He also enjoyed barbecue with family and friends, and those times reflected the easygoing spirit and deep appreciation he had for life’s simple pleasures.

Those who knew John will remember him for his loving heart, his friendly nature, and his passionate approach to life. He had a way of making others feel welcome and valued, and his memory will remain a lasting source of comfort to all who loved him. His life was a reflection of devotion to family, hard work, and the joy of being outdoors, and he will be deeply missed by all whose lives he touched.

A gathering of family and friends will be Thursday, June 18, 2026 from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm with the recital of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 pm. Celebration of Life service will be Friday, June 19, 2026 at 10:00 am at the funeral home chapel with burial to follow to Hillcrest Memorial Park cemetery in Edinburg.
