Hector Chavez Obituary

Hector Chavez, a cherished pillar of his community and a beacon of love and selflessness, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2024, at the age of 72, in Edinburg, Texas. Born on February 5, 1952, in Burgos, Tamaulipas, Hector was a man whose heart and soul were as rich and fertile as the land he so passionately cultivated.

A devoted family man, Hector was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Alma Delia Davila, his daughter Ariana Chavez, and his parents, Amadeo Chavez and Maria De Jesus Medina. His legacy will be carried on through his children, Maria Angelica Chavez, Marisela Chavez, and Hector Miguel Chavez.; and his grandchildren, Kayla Jeanay Cantu, Rogelio Ezequiel Chavez, Arturo Leonel Chavez, Victoria Eloisa Salas, Adolfo Amadeo Rios, and Alma Elia Chavez. Hector's light will also shine brightly through his great-grandchildren, Elena Chavez, Rogelio Chavez, Jose Luis Cantu III, and Emelia Chavez, as well as his siblings, cousins. nieces, nephews and friends whose lives he touched.

Hector's life was a testament to the virtues of faith, hard work, and dedication. He began his career farming with Bell Farms, where he honed his skills and developed a deep connection with the land. Later, he channeled his entrepreneurial spirit into creating Chavez Dump Trucks, a business that not only served the community but also provided for his family. Hector’s days were filled with the joy of working outdoors, whether tending to his land or caring for his beloved cows. He found solace in the rhythms of nature and took great pride in the fruits of his labor.

Those who knew Hector understood that his greatest joy came from the time he spent with his family. A man of profound faith, Hector instilled in his children and grandchildren the values of love, generosity, and kindness. His unwavering support and guidance shaped the lives of those around him, creating an enduring legacy of unity and strength.

Hector's love for the outdoors was matched only by his commitment to his community. He was a familiar face at family gatherings, always ready with a helping hand or a word of encouragement. His selfless nature was evident in every aspect of his life, and he was often the first to offer support to a neighbor in need. Hector's generosity extended beyond his immediate circle, as he was known to lend his time and resources to various local initiatives.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. with a 7 p.m. prayer service, Wednesday, May 15, 2024 Rivera at Hillcrest Funerals and Cremations 1300 N. I-69C Edinburg, Texas. Chapel service will be at 9 a.m. on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at Rivera at Hillcrest Funerals and Cremations. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Edinburg.
