Florencio Valdez Obituary

Florencio Valdez, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, was called home to be with the Lord on August 23, 2024. Born on October 27, 1955, in Garza Gonzalez, Nuevo Leon, and became a resident of Edinburg, Tx thereafter.

Florencio's life was a testament to love, a love he shared with his devoted wife, Blanca Valdez, and a legacy carried on by his children—Genaro Ortiz and his wife Alicia, Florencio Valdez Jr., and Rebecca Salinas with her husband Leonardo. His was a life that blossomed with the laughter and joy of his grandchildren—Genaro Jr., Julian with Lessdy, Laiza with Jose, Mark, Emmalee, Danika, and Leonardo Jr.—and further flourished with the innocence and wonder of his great-grandchildren—Daleyza, Dariel, Dalanny, Elian, Kianahi, Genali, Kailany, and Aitana.

As we stand here today, let us remember a man who, in his time among us, was the very embodiment of a giving heart and a helping hand. Though his parents, Florentino and Maria Trinidad Valdez along with his brother Amado have gone on before him, his brother Francisco Valdez remains. The bond of the Valdez family remains unbroken, a circle of love that death itself cannot sever.

Florencio retired from Hillcrest Memorial Park in 2020, but his work there was more than a career; it was a ministry, serving families in their time of need with dignity and grace.

Those who knew Florencio knew his passion for the simple joys of life. His love for chickens and the great outdoors was a reflection of his appreciation for God's creation, a world he navigated with the joy and wonder of a child. He was a spirited soul, a man who could fix anything with his hands.

As we bid farewell to this extraordinary man, let us not dwell in the shadow of grief, but rather embrace the light of his memory. Florencio Valdez walked this earth for a season, and in his walking, he blessed us with the footprints of an exemplary life. Though he has crossed the river and rests now in the shade of the tree of life, his legacy lives on in each of us who had the privilege to know him.

As we go forth from this place, let us honor Florencio's memory by living as he did—with open hearts, generous spirits, and hands ready to serve. May we find comfort in the knowledge that we shall see him again on that glorious day when we are all called home. Until then, Florencio Valdez, rest in peace, good and faithful servant. Amen.
