Filemon M. Gonzalez

Filemon Gonzalez, a cherished, faith-filled soul who lived a gentle and loving life, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2025, in Edinburg, Texas, at the age of 90. Born on September 10, 1935, in Mexico to Encarnacion Gonzalez and Lucina Marquez, Filemon made Edinburg his home for the majority of his remarkable life. Though his passing is a cause for mourning, we celebrate the remarkable life he led and the immense love he spread.

The loving husband of the late Maria Elvia Gonzalez, Filemon was a dedicated partner whose devotion to his wife was nothing short of exemplary. He now reunites with her and his predeceased parents in eternal rest. Filemon was a guiding light as a father to his two daughters, Nohelia Alonso and Monica Gonzalez, imparting lessons of love and faith that they will carry forward.

He is survived by his children; Gustavo ( Victoria) Gonzalez, Filemon ,Jr. (Edna) Gonzalez, and Ismelda Gonzalez-Escobedo (Aaron); A sister- Guadalupe Gonzalez and 11 grandchildren.

Filemon's legacy will continue to flourish within the lives he has touched. It is with deep love and profound respect that we say goodbye to Filemon Gonzalez, a truly remarkable man, whose spirit will forever dance in the hearts of those who loved him.

Visitation will be Monday, December 22, 2025 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a rosary at 6:30 PM at Rivera Hillcrest Funerals and Cremations, 1300 N. I-69C in Edinburg. Funeral service is Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at 10:00 am at Rivera Hillcrest Funerals and Cremations. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Edinburg.
