We come together today to celebrate the life of Elena "Nena" Guerra Landin, a cherished individual whose laughter and love left an indelible mark on all who knew her. Born on June 21, 1953, in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Nena's journey through life was one filled with joy, passion, and an unwavering dedication to her family. She passed away peacefully on December 11, 2024, in McAllen, Texas, surrounded by the love of her family.
Nena's life was a testament to the power of love and the strength of family bonds. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Felix Landin. Her legacy continues through her children: Mary Helen Landin and her children Kendra, Ethan, and Erick Gonzalez; Roxanne (Javier) Landin Vargas and their children Adrian and Briana Vargas; Henry (Guadalupe) Lewis Landin and his daughter Isabella Landin; and Vanessa (Mike) Margaret Landin Aleman and their son Silver Aleman. For 23 years, she shared a life full of love and companionship with her partner, Martin Santana. Her sister, Maria de Jesús Guerra Rivera, and her nephews Edgar Elias, Lucero Lizbeth, and Rosa Isela Hurtado Guerra, also survive her.
Nena's professional life was spent serving the community as a dedicated cafeteria worker for the Brownsville Independent School District. Her colleagues will remember her as a beacon of positivity in the workplace. Outside of work, Nena's interests were as vibrant as her personality. She found joy in traveling, shopping, and tending to her garden. Her favorite restaurants were places of celebration, where she enjoyed the simple pleasure of a meal with her children.
Described by those who knew her as funny, loving, and passionate, Nena's spirit was infectious. Today, we honor a life well-lived, a woman who loved deeply, and a soul that will forever be remembered for the happiness she brought into the world. Elena "Nena" Guerra Landin will be dearly missed, but her legacy will continue to inspire us all.
