Baldemar Salvador Villarreal, 79 of Encino, Texas, passed away on October 16,2025 in an Edinburg hospital. Balde was born on April 15,1946 to Salvador Villarreal and Estefanita (Cantu) Villarreal in Encino, Texas.
He graduated high school in 1964 from Falfurrias High School and went to work for the King Ranch(Encino Division). Soon after, he attended the University of Pan American in Edinburg,Texas. He would later be drafted to the US Army where he served as a medic. After being honorably discharged, he returned to continue his education and received his BS in elementary education.
He worked 35 years for the Brooks County ISD. He taught 7th & 8th grade math and science and also drove the school bus for Encino Elementary. He also kept busy with the summer recreation program for the kids.
Balde sang and co-wrote for bands: Fe, Brown Country, Fervor, Sweetwood and Burnin’ Ember. When he retired he started writing and recording music that highlighted his Christian faith that was a cornerstone in his life. This music is a testament to his profound belief and the comfort he found in his Savior.
He married his “Godwink” soulmate in March of 1982; Veronica (Parras) Villarreal. He leaves behind a legacy of love with his wife Veronica of 43 years and their three children: Raudel(Carrie) S. Villarreal of San Antonio, TX, Deandra C. Villarreal of Austin, TX, and Stephanie G. Villarreal of Encino, TX. He also leaves behind his beloved cat, Bebecito. He is survived by his sister Lucia Carrizales of Raymondville, Texas. Balde is reunited with both his parents and his two sisters: Amalia Molina and Natalia V. Escalante, as well as his niece Margot Escalante and nephew Gustavo “Gus” Carrizales.
He also leaves behind the countless students he taught and adored throughout his career.
His love for life was evident in his passions. He loved singing, dancing, BBQing, his Dallas Cowboys, and of course Bugs Bunny.
As we celebrate Balde’s life, let us remember the joy he brought into our lives, the wisdom he imparted, and the love he shared. His was a life well-lived, and his legacy will continue to inspire and guide us. Mr. V’s story is a reminder that every day is a gift and an opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others. May we carry his spirit forward in our own lives; spreading love and light wherever we go.
Visitation will be held at the Rivera at Hillcrest Funerals and Cremations,1300 N. I-69C in Edinburg, Texas from 4:00pm-8:00pm on Thursday October, 23, 2025 with a chapel service at 6:30 pm. Services will conclude at the funeral home.
