Aubrey Raelynn Gonzalez, known to all simply as Bre, embraced the world with her contagious laughter and her own personal, quirky sense of humor. She was born in McAllen, Texas, on June 21, 2005. On April 23, 2024, at the age of 18, Bre gained her wings and heaven gained another precious angel.
Despite tremendous obstacles she faced her entire life with a congenital heart defect, Bre was strong and always maintained a joyful and cheerful outlook, treasuring every moment with her family. Bre is survived by her loving and devoted parents Blas Gonzalez, Jr. and Aida Martinez, two sisters: Alda Renee and Alexis Gonzalez, and four nieces: Camilla, Ava, Miley and Penelope. She is also survived by her maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Cosme (Aminta) Martinez, Jr. and her paternal grandmother, Janie Zuniga, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins who loved her and miss her very much.
Cats and llamas were her spirit animals. She was also a trendsetter in her own right, often donning playful cat hats, cat or bunny ears, rings and necklaces and “borrowing” her sisters’ bling every chance she could.
Bre loved listening to her family read from selections of her impressive “Llama Llama” book collection. She also loved dancing to “Beep, Beep, I’m a Sheep!” Her humor was a beacon that lit up every room, and she had an uncanny ability to find the funny in the mundane, often reminding us to live each day like it was your last.
Though school was not her favorite activity, she was incredibly tech savvy and excelled in gaming.
As we remember Bre, let us not dwell on the silence left in her absence but fill it with the echoes of her laughter, the memories of her antics, and the warmth of her light-hearted spirit. She was a shooting star that blazed brightly across our skies, reminding us to always find humor in life's little moments.
The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the many medical professionals who were an integral part of Bre’s journey, especially DHR Health who were always there through the toughest times.
Goodbye sweet Bre- your wings were ready, but our heart was not.
